Shacks Ready

The Shack is 99.9% complete. All of the renovations are finished. It took over two weeks to complete the numerous little projects that had to be done to the shack in order to get it ready for ice. We actually made the whole shack about 60 pounds lighter, and a lot stronger. We also got a smaller wood stove, and replaced the heavy front door with a less heavy, reinforced carbon fiber door. Pretty cool right? We had a problem with the picture window fogging up as well, so we invented a manual windshield wiper system made up of cable and pulleys. These small innovations will go a long way this winter!

Whats with this weather?

This past week has been crazy warm, which doesn't make me think to much about ice fishing. With this warm weather my buddies and I have been out on the private stocked pond to see if anything is biting this time of year. Sure enough we caught a few largemouth bass and a few perch. SO even with arm temps, we are still catching fish!

Gearing up

With the cold weather coming, we have started making renovations to the ice shack we had last year. Before I go any further, incase you forgot, this beast weights about 300 lbs and its the sickest shack ever build from scrap. We cut out another jig hole, shortened the pong table (to make room for more seating), and build two slide out steps to get into the shack instead of the ramp we had last year. Once we finish all of renovations I will post some pictures. Last year we got 3rd out of hundreds of entires of the Bangor Daily Ice shack contest. With these new renovations we have in mind, you are shooting for a win in 2012!
